Trekking on Dartmoor
Trekking on Dartmoor
Exeter has been voted ‘The Number 1 City in England for Quality of Life’ for the last three years. It is situated on the edge of Dartmoor National Park (ideal for walking, riding or pony-trekking) and at the head of the Exe Estuary (a haven for bird-life). Exeter is the capital city of Devon, which is home to many splendid sandy beaches and impressive stretches of coastline.

It is the most popular holiday destination for English people who come here to enjoy its wealth of natural beauty and pleasant climate.
The history of Exeter is evident around every corner you turn. It was founded by the Romans 2000 years ago and is still encircled by the original city wall. Exeter Cathedral dates back to Norman times and the street which surrounds it (Cathedral Close) has its own rich history. Here you will find the first hotel in England; Mol’s Coffee House - a favourite haunt of Sir Francis Drake and Sir Walter Raleigh. Exeter was once a thriving port - the Medieval Quay, Ship Canal and impressive Georgian buildings tell the story of Exeter’s rich maritime past.
